Terms begin July 1, 2012

The music therapy licensure bill (SB414) was signed into law by Governor Deal on May 1, 2012. This is a huge step forward for the music therapy profession in Georgia. It is the culmination of an enormous grassroots effort that was supported by music therapists, families/caregivers and professionals from related fields. In the next phase, the bill will go through the writing of rules and regulations. The MTAG election is being held from Saturday, April 28 thru Monday, May 7. All professional members of MTAG are eligible to vote. If you have not received the e-mail from Alan Coates with the subject line MTAG Election, contact Pat Coates at pscoates@bellsouth.net.

AMTA has offered to host a no cost observation day for students who are interested in the field of music therapy. If you know Middle, High, or College aged students who might be interested in coming to expereince a day at National Conference, please review the form below have them RSVP Amber Weldon-Stephens by Nov. 11 at the following email address: stephensa@fultonschools.org

I hope that this email finds you all well and getting back into the swing of things as school starts! On behalf of the executive committee I would like to thank you for an amazing 2010-2011 membership year and I invite you to renew your memberships for the 2011-2012 year, which started July 1, 2011. We have had an great year! Our state task force has been hard at work fostering relationships with your legislators, we had a great CMTE with Judy Simpson and Dena Register, we were able to award an awesome scholarship to a worthy recipient, launched our new website, and lat but not least we launched our new facebook page (go "LIKE" us!).
